BaseCore™ for Retaining Walls

BaseCore™ Geocell for Road Construction

Geocell ground grid road foundations support numerous commercial wheel load weights and soil types. Save time and money as it is cheaper and easier to install than concrete and asphalt.

Supports All Permanent & Temporary Roads

From major thoroughfares to country roads, forestry roads and job sites, BaseCore™ geocell cellular confinement systems have numerous road construction applications. They make for durable paved and unpaved roads that last 75+ years.

Mitigate lateral dispersion and build roads without the usual ruts, sinking, and other problems with foundations the United States Army Corps uses. You can even reinstall BaseCore™ Geocell for another commercial project to build on a budget.

Highways Main Roads

Highways/Main Roads

County, city, and state governments may require new roads or repairs that concrete and asphalt can’t solve. Utilize BaseCore™ when utility lines are too low, and timelines require winter building and have maximum loan bearing capacity for major roadway traffic.

Work Site Roads

Work Site Roads

Heavy vehicles in minefields and oil sites deteriorate the ground daily with tire tracks and material hauling. Increase your workplace’s lifespan with BaseCore™ geocell for road construction that handles constant automobile traffic at a low cost.

Forest Natural Roads

Forest/Natural Roads

We recommend BaseCore™ geocell when building a vegetative road in a national park or event venue. The product will supply a reliable foundation for mud control and perforation to plant grasses in-between cells.

Temporary Access Roads

Temporary/Access Roads

You can install BaseCore™ for soil stabilization on short-term roads and construct another vehicle path with the same product. Or you can lay it for main roadway access as a permeable, durable base.

Airway Roads

Airway Roads

Most airports install bituminous concrete for airstrips, de-icing pads, and dikes. But you can build permeable roads for planes with BaseCore™ foundation grids that don’t require specialists.

Install BaseCore Geocell Roads for All Weather Conditions

Colder climates and winter road construction projects may not be able to afford to wait when clients have a pressing deadline. Entire road traffic systems can shut down when you and other engineers rely on conventional concrete and asphalt roads.

However, BaseCore™ Geocell is a year-round geocell base with the same structural strength and doesn’t crack due to extremely cold temperatures. Say “yes” to more client projects with HDPE geocell panels and grow your private business by tackling roads that others would turn down.

BaseCore™ Geocell Benefits for Road Construction

Build Soft Soild Roads

Build Soft Soil Roads

Clay, peat bogs, and sand cause severe ground stabilization issues when they don’t pass an engineer’s soil test. Instead of constructing roads with sinking and uneven ground, BaseCore™ Geocell disperses lateral pressure, barely touching the soft subgrade.

Prevent Potholes

Prevent Potholes, Ruts, and Sinking

With perforated BaseCore™ Geocell, you can trust a durable road foundation for 75+ years without rainstorm damage. Water can pass through the infill material and pass into the subgrade, preventing potholes and future road deterioration.

33% Less Excavation Depth

33% Less Excavation Depth

Protect existing utility lines and groundwater channels by excavating less grade with BaseCore™ Geocell. You can construct more roads than before without modifications and spend less time and money removing previous roads and materials.

50% Base Infill Materials

50% Base Infill Materials

BaseCore™ Geocell for road construction and load support uses fewer infill materials for lower project costs. It even supports on-site sand, gravel, and other aggregate to save you from off-site hauling labor.

Work During the Winter

Work During the Winter

BaseCore™ Geocell is a great alternative to concrete if your project deadlines are in colder weather. Our geocell foundation grids carry the same road construction strength while keeping your long-term budget in mind.

Save on Specialists & Install

Save on Specialists & Install

Cities with lower project bids hire general laborers or landscape companies to install BaseCore™ Geocell roads. It’s a product that’s light, requires no formal training, and doesn’t need heavy equipment while improving load-bearing capacity for vehicles.

Road Construction Geocell vs. Geogrid

Unlike 2D geogrids, BaseCore™ geocell is a fundamentally different road construction option. It outperforms as a military-proven foundation for all types of roads during every season of the year.

All soil types, including weak soils Strong soils only
Only 1 layer needed May require multiple layers
Contour flexibility for easy installation Must place tight and flat
Works in various road scenarios and fixes underlying issues Doesn’t perform well in rutted and poor road areas
Withstands infill equipment traffic Infill equipment can damage the geogrid
Versatile infill options High-quality aggregate infill only

BaseCore™ Geocell General Road Construction Installation

Steps:

Group 182

Prepare road construction subgrade by removing debris, rocks, vegetation, and previous foundation material

Group 187

Compact road subgrade with compactor or other equipment.

Group 183

Install geotextile fabric from one end of the road to the other. Overlap areas if necessary to ensure infill material doesn’t sink into subgrade.

Group 185

Stake BaseCore™ Geocell panels with rebar at one end of the road, expanding them to the other side with additional rebar.

Group 184

Connect adjacent BaseCore™ Geocell panels with BaseClips for lateral strength across entire road construction.

Group 186

Infill BaseCore™ Geocell panels with gravel, soil, or other material. Start from one side of the road, fill each cell section, and work your way to the other end.

Group 182 (1)

Plant grass for vegetation road constructions.
